2025 Virginia Tech Hokies Football Predictions
By Don Corleone Jones (@cjoneswho1212 on twitter)
Brent Pry had some high expectations a season ago. However, they were hit with injuries and needed a win against Virginia to become bowl eligible. They have a lot of transfers coming in and two new coordinators as well. With that being said, here are my predictions for the 2025 Virginia Tech football team.
Offense
After battling injuries last season, Kyron Drones the senior quarterback is looking to take this Virginia Tech offense to the next level. They bring in Philip Montgomery to take over with a fast-paced offense that will be crucial for the Hokies. The Hokies add talent in the transfer portal to their skill position. Adding Terrion Stewart (Bowling Green), Marcellous Hawkings (Central Missouri), and Braydon Bennett (Coastal Carolina) helps reinforce their depleted backfield. While adding Cameron Seldon (Tennessee) and Donavon Greene (Wake Forest) brings the explosiveness that the Hokies offense lacked a season ago. This offensive line needs to improve after allowing 47 sacks a season ago. If they can keep Drones healthy, this offense can be solid in ACC play.
Defense
Their new DC Sam Siefkes brings NFL experience as he was a former assistant coach for the Vikings and the Cardinals. His off-season list was super busy as they only brings back two starters from last season and he added a ton of pieces through the portal. Defensive lineman Ben Bell (Texas State) and defensive back Tyson Flowers (Rice) are the two big names that they brought in. If they can limit the big plays and stop the struggle of getting off the field on third downs, this Hokies defense has potential to be solid in 2025.
Schedule
At South Carolina (Loss)
Vs Vanderbilt (Loss)
Vs Old Dominion (Win)
Vs Wofford (Win)
At NC State (Win)
Vs Wake Forest (Loss)
At Georgia Tech (Loss)
Vs California (Win)
Vs Louisville (Win)
At Florida State (Loss)
Vs Miami (Loss)
At Virginia (Win)
(6-6)
Their win total is set at 6.5 with the over at (+136) and the under (-168). Virginia Tech has too many question marks for me to consider taking this over. I see the talent here, but I see a repeat of last year and they need the last game of the season to become bowl eligible. They get a tough go as they have to play at South Carolina, Georgia Tech and Florida State this season. The Hokies are going back to a bowl game, but they fight and claw to get back there.
