2025 Texas Longhorns Football Predictions
By Don Corleone Jones (@cjoneswho1212 on twitter)
The Longhorns are 25-5 with back-to-back trips to the CFP semifinal. Steve Sarkisian has brought the Longhorns back to a spot among one of the best teams in the country. They have another roster that is stacked with talent that is in a position to win a national title. The expectations are as high as they have ever been for the Longhorns this year. Will they be able to thrive under the pressure? With that being said, here are my predictions for the 2025 Texas Longhorns football team.
Offense
The Arch Manning era is officially underway in Texas. Manning played in seven games last year and threw for 939 yards to go along with 13 total touchdowns. A lot of hype is built around Arch and this group this season and I am beyond excited to see Arch play a full season. In the backfield, he has a great 1-2 punch in Quintrevion Wisner who rushed for over a thousand yards last season and CJ Baxter a sophomore who is a former five star recruit. Baxter was supposed to take over that room last year before suffering a season-ending knee injury in the first full padded practice. Now he has the potential to show how talented he really is. At wide receiver, this group is losing a bunch from a season ago. However, they have Ryan Wingo who will be a stud, they get Emmett Mosley V from Stanford and DeAndre Moore Jr. The names are as flashy as they were a season ago, however they are going to feast with Manning throwing them the ball. Texas’ offensive line is replacing four starters but the guys coming in would have played for a lot of SEC teams last season. The Longhorns retool offensively and will show just how good they are.
Defense
Despite some high level departures, this unit looks every bit like a powerhouse in 2025. On the defensive line, they are led by Colin Simmons who had nine sacks last year as a freshman. The depth that this group has will allow them to always keep guys fresh and make lives hell for the opposing offenses. At linebacker, this group is deep and has some big-time playmakers. The trio of Trey Moore, Anthony Hill Jr. and Liona Lefau will be phenomenal in 2025. In the secondary, they have big-time impact players up and down their rotation. The combination of Michael Taaffe, Malik Muhammad and Jordon Johnon-Rubell will be nightmares for opposing quarterbacks. This defense is legit and arguably one of the top five defenses in the country.
Schedule
At Ohio State (Loss)
Vs San Jose State (Win)
Vs UTEP (Win)
Vs Sam Houston State (Win)
At Florida (Win)
Vs Oklahoma (Win)
At Kentucky (Win)
At Miss State (Win)
Vs Vanderbilt (Win)
At Georgia (Win)
Vs Arkansas (Win)
Vs Texas A&M (Loss)
(10-2)
Their win total is set at 9.5 with the over at (-205) and the under at (+164). Texas is the odds on favorite in the SEC and they will be playing in the SEC title game. However, I think they lose in the SEC title game to create a spark heading into the College Football Playoff. The sky's the limit for this squad, but can Steve Sarkisian finally get this team over the hump is the biggest question of the season. I am excited for Arch Manning and this Texas squad this year.
