2025 Syracuse Orange Football Predictions
By Don Corleone Jones (@cjoneswho1212 on twitter)
The Fran Brown era started off with a bang last season. It was the first time that Syracuse won 10 games since 2018. A lot of people have some high hopes for the Orange in 2025 as well. However, their schedule is arguably the toughest in the ACC and getting back to double digit wins doesn’t seem like it will be an easy challenge. With that being said here are my predictions for the 2025 Syracuse Orange.
Offense
The Orange have a massive turnover as they only return 37% of their offensive production. Kyle McCord went to the NFL and they have a big question mark at quarterback. It looks like LSU transfer Rickie Collins who was a 4 star dual threat is coming in to be the guy for Jeff Nixon’s offensive unit. Their running back Yasin Willis is going to be their featured back for the year. This offensive line looked good a year ago, but with two young guys starting on the left side will cause some concerns early. The growing pains are going to be what hurts this offense to start off the season.
Defense
The Orange only brings back three starters from last season. Linebacker Derek McDonald and defensive back Duce Chestnut are the top returners. They also have true freshman Demetres Samuel Jr that is going to be a key contributor for this Orange defense. One thing that works for this defense is that there are eight seniors starting to go along with two sophomores and a freshman. Syracuse can use that upperclassman led defense and create some havoc against some ACC offenses.
Schedule
At Tennessee (Loss)
Vs UConn (Win)
Vs Colgate (Win)
At Clemson (Loss)
Vs Duke (Win)
At SMU (Loss)
Vs Pittsburgh (Win)
At Georgia Tech (Loss)
Vs UNC (Loss)
At Miami (Loss)
Vs Boston College (Win)
(5-7)
The win total is set at 5.5 with the over at (+134) and the under at (-164). This is crazy to see a fall off from where Syracuse was a season ago to where they are now. Fran Brown has a lot to work to do if they want to repeat the success that they had last season. Syracuse has a tough schedule and I fully believe that they are just going to miss being bowl eligible.
