2025 Stanford Cardinal Football Predictions
By Don Corleone Jones (@cjoneswho1212 on twitter)
The Stanford Cardinal have been looking for some consistency for quite a while now. They haven’t had a full winning season since 2018 and haven’t made a bowl game since then either. Troy Taylor leaves after two seasons and the Cardinal brings in Frank Reich to be their interim head coach. Stanford needs a bounce back in order to succeed in the ACC. With that being said, here are my predictions for the 2025 Stanford Cardinal.
Offense
This Stanford offense struggled a season ago and they need to make a big stride in order to have a chance at a bowl game. Stanford has a promising red shirt freshman quarterback in Elijah Brown that will start again for the Cardinal like he did for three games last season. They have three talented transfers coming in at wide out that will be huge for them. CJ Williams (Wisconsin), Jordan Onovughe (Colorado) and David Pantelis (Yale) will all have an impact for this Cardinal offense. On top of that they have Sam Roush at tight end who is going to be one of the best tight ends in the ACC. This offensive line allowed 39 sacks in 2024 and they brought in two offensive linemen in the portal to help. Stanford has potential offensively, they just need to put the pieces together.
Defense
This defensive coordinator gets six returning starters which gives them a bit of experience to work with. They need better play from their secondary than they got a season ago. Stanford needs some pressure up front as well. They lost Tristan Sinclair and Gaethan Bernadel at linebacker which will hurt them. However, this unit has guys that have experience with Jahsiah Galvan and Matt Rose. This will be a unit that will get some confidence as the season progresses in my opinion.
Schedule
At Hawaii (Win)
At BYU (Loss)
Vs Boston College (Win)
At Virginia (Loss)
Vs San Jose State (Loss)
At SMU (Loss)
Vs Florida State (Win)
At Miami (Loss)
Vs Pittsburgh (Loss)
At North Carolina (Loss)
Vs California (Loss)
Vs Notre Dame (Loss)
(3-9)
Their win total is set at 3.5 with the over at (+136) and the under at (-168). I think they have the potential to hit this over. Their schedule isn’t the friendliest for Frank Reich. However, there are two to three games that I believe are 50/50 for Stanford. If they can win those 50/50 games they can easily hit this over and get a chance to play in a bowl game for the first time since 2018. I think this squad is a season away however and I will keep my eye on Stanford in the near future just not this season.
