2025 Mississippi State Bulldogs Football Predictions
By Don Corleone Jones (@cjoneswho1212 on twitter)
The Bulldogs are in need of a good season. Mississippi State hasn’t made a bowl game in the last two seasons. Last year was so bad that the Bulldogs can only go up from here. With that being said, here is my prediction for the 2025 Mississippi State football team.
Offense
This offense took a step forward last year. I am excited for Blake Shapen to be healthy this year for the Bulldogs. Before Shapen went down, the Bulldogs offense looked good. The backfield has a solid duo in Davon Booth and Fluff Bothwell coming in from South Alabama. Booth had 757 rushing yards with 5 touchdowns and Bothwell had 838 rushing yards with 13 touchdowns. They will help this offense in 2025. At wide receiver, they bring in some transfers to solidify their wide receiver room. Bringing in Markus Allen (Eastern Michigan), Anthony Evans III (Georgia) and Brenen Thompson (Oklahoma) helps this offense’s potential. Their offensive line has four transfers coming to be their starters. I think their offensive line has improved and they will help this offense get up to their potential.
Defense
I think that the Bulldogs defense is going to keep them in some games this season. Their defensive line is better as they bring in a ton of transfers. With names like Will Whitson (Coastal Carolina), Red Hibbler (NC State) and Raishein Thomas (Northern Illinois) this defensive line group got deeper and better overall. At linebacker, they lose their key player in Stone Blanton. However they added Jalen Smith (Tennessee) to go along with Nic Mitchell which is a solid duo at linebacker. In the secondary is their weak spot. They bring in Jahron Manning (Old Dominion) to be the leader of their secondary. Mississippi State needs guys to step up if they want to compete with stopping opposing SEC offenses.
Schedule
At Southern Miss (Win)
Vs Arizona State (Loss)
Vs Alcorn State (Win)
Vs Northern Illinois (Win)
Vs Tennessee (Loss)
At Texas A&M (Loss)
At Florida (Loss)
Vs Texas (Loss)
At Arkansas (Loss)
Vs Georgia (Loss)
At Missouri (Loss)
Vs Ole Miss (Win)
(4-8)
Their win total is set at 3.5 with the odds for the over set at (-150) and the under set at (+122). I think that Mississippi State will be better than they were a season ago. The Bulldogs retooled in the portal and getting their quarterback back definitely helps them. I think they’ll finish with four wins and the potential is there for this group to continue to get better.
