2025 LSU Tigers Football Predictions
By Don Corleone Jones (@cjoneswho1212 on twitter)
This is a crucial year for Brian Kelly at LSU. The Tigers haven’t made the CFP yet in Kelly’s tenure. With a loaded transfer class and returning key starters, this is the year where it’s CFP or bust for the Tigers. With that being said, here is my prediction for the 2025 LSU Tigers football team.
Offense
Garrett Nussmeier is the key to this offense. Last season, he threw for 4,039 passing yards to go along with 32 total touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Nussmeier has to be on his A game this year if LSU wants to compete. In the backfield, they’ll be led by Caden Durham who I’m very high on. Durham has potential to be a 1,000 yard rusher in 2025 and LSU desperately needs one of those this year. At wide receiver, they bring in Barrion Brown from Kentucky to pair up with Aaron Anderson and company to put together a solid wide receiver core. The LSU O-Line is essential here as they bring in two transfers that will be starters for them. Three out of their five starters will be underclassmen so they will have pressure on their shoulders from the jump. We’ll see how good this offensive line will be after their big test in week number one.
Defense
Their defense needs to not be so inconsistent with the talent that they have at their disposal. On the defensive line, they have the depth, but they don’t have an elite name to lead the way. The room alone has talent but they need one of Ahmad Breaux, Dominick McKinley or USF transfer Bernard Gooden to step up and demand the double teams that will create other opportunities for defenders to make a play. At linebacker, this group is deep as they get Harold Perkins Jr back for another year. While also getting sophomore stud Whit Weeks back who had 82 tackles in his freshman season. In the secondary, this is where the defense improves overall. They hit the portal hard, getting Tamarcus Cooley (Stanford), A.J. Haulcy (Houston) and Mansoor Delane (Virginia Tech) to help solidify this defensive back room. This defense will flourish if they can stop being so inconsistent overall like they were last year.
Schedule
At Clemson (Win)
Vs Louisiana Tech (Win)
Vs Florida (Win)
VS SE Louisiana (Win)
At Ole Miss (Loss)
Vs South Carolina (Win)
At Vanderbilt (Win)
Vs Texas A&M (Win)
At Alabama (Win)
Vs Arkansas (Win)
Vs Western Kentucky (Win)
At Oklahoma (Loss)
(10-2)
Their win total is set at 8.5 with the over set at (-132) and the under set at (+108). This team’s floor is for sure eight wins. However, I think this group can go above the floor and hit their ceiling which is 10-2. This team gets to 10-2 and makes the SEC title game in my opinion. I also have them winning the SEC title at +700. LSU has the potential and I’m going to buy in on them one more time with Brian Kelly in charge. It’s a great easy spot for me as I think this defense will gel together and the offense is going to flourish to levels that they were at when Jayden Daniels was their quarterback.
